Creative Study Strategies For Nursing Students

Canva Study Guides

First of all, something that I have noticed is that 99% of university professors teach their class based up of powerpoint lectures. Now, I don’t know about you, but these presentations tend to have the key information for the semester. A nursing study tip that I would consider is to create a canva study guide on each lecture. Not only will it permit you to digest the information in a digital and more organized way, but it will also allow you to implement graphic design techniques that can elevate not only your motivation for study sessions, but a visual understanding of the topic as well. Also, who doesn’t love some good aesthetic studying materials?!!

Visual Learning-Draw and Learn

Next up is visual learning-draw and learn. I would like to say that this is my most utilized study technique! In order to truly understand we must first analyze, what better way to do such than to draw what you understand and truly permit your creativity to flow with the topic learned! For all of my visual learners, this technique consists of learning and interpreting what you understood through the art of illustration. Something that has not quite been seen before!

Become the Teacher Method

On the other hand, if you think about who must understand in order for you to learn, that is the job of the teacher! Try implementing study sessions with your friends and take turns on becoming the teacher on a topic you are reviewing. Not only will not only teach what you already understand, you will also learn what you didn’t know. If you love collaborating with others, this is the technique for you!

Active Learning

Moreover, it is crucial to apply “real-life” simulations and interactions into your learning experience. Becoming a nurse is all about practice and care, in order to ensure both qualities are mastered, you must involve yourself in activities that will allow you to truly live and learn from these experiences.

Self Care

Lastly, is the most important “study technique” of all. I will start off by mentioning that absolutely no study strategy will work out if you do not take care of yourself first. Coming from first-hand experience. I can say that pushing yourself to the limit can sometimes be worse than not pushing yourself. There must be a balance in order for you to thrive and become the nurse of your dreams! Do not push yourself to be perfect, realistically, straight A’s are pretty difficult to reach in nursing school so don’t beat yourself up about it; just make sure you are doing your best!!

Oh and please remember that you must love yourself in order to succeed…💓
